Sensitive site clearance, King's Lynn, Norfolk

25 Feb 2016

Greenscape was commissioned to undertake a sensitive site clearance operation for a site with habitats suitable for widespread reptile species and protected bird species. The site also supported a stand of Japanese knotweed, for which a strict method statement had to be followed in order to prevent the spread or disturbance of the plant's wide spreading underground rhizome system.

Greenscape provided all necessary plant, machinery and labour to complete the site clearance utilising a range of tools and clearance techniques to ensure that protected species were not harmed during the course of the operation. Areas of vegetation considered suitable for nesting birds were cleared outside of the bird breeding season, or visually checked by a suitably qualified ecologist for the presence of active birds nests before works commenced.

The working methodology for areas of habitat considered suitable for reptiles involved the phase clearance of vegetation from the site and the use of a suitable working height from the ground to avoid disturbance of vegetation in which reptiles may be present.

See the site clearance pages for more information, or contact Greenscape to discuss site clearance on your site.
